{"id":44,"date":"2016-02-02T23:55:18","date_gmt":"2016-02-02T23:55:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gordontaylor.org\/?p=44"},"modified":"2016-02-03T23:05:45","modified_gmt":"2016-02-03T23:05:45","slug":"roman-history-information-displayed-at-eastgate-chamber","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gordontaylor.org\/?p=44","title":{"rendered":"Roman history information displayed at Eastgate Chamber"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gloucester City Council has installed a new interpretation board at Eastgate Chamber which tells the story of the history of it.<\/p>\n<p>The city council has installed a number of new interpretation boards around the city centre which tell the story of the historic development of the city for both visitors and residents to enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>Following on from the success of the Kimbrose and Spa boards installed last year a new board has been installed at Eastgate Chamber to help to bring the scheduled monument\u2019s history to life.<\/p>\n<p>The board has been paid for as part of the city centre investment fund, and was designed and installed at the request of the Civic Trust.<\/p>\n<p>Ian McKay, from the Civic Trust said: \u201cTourists and residents will be able to learn more about Gloucester from the Roman, medieval and civil war periods, all part of our city&#8217;s fascinating history.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are indebted to Phil Moss of the Civic Trust and John Rhodes, former curator of the City Museum, for their expertise and knowledge in designing this board.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cllr Paul James, leader of Gloucester City Council said: \u201cThe city has a number of interpretation boards similar to this one at various locations around the city centre which are very popular with both residents and visitors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new board provides a glimpse into the Roman history of the east gate and the people who lived and worked here.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to thank the Civic Trust for their assistance in this project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The board is part of the improvements to public realm and awareness of heritage within the city for visitors and residents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gloucester City Council has installed a new interpretation board at Eastgate Chamber which tells the story of the history of it.
